DUBAI: Indonesia has stopped short of opening a dedicated tourism office in Dubai despite a new focus on attracting visitors from the United Arab Emirates.
Thamrin Bachri, director-general of the Indonesian Ministry of Culture and Tourism, said that the Ministry would consider instead a “branded bureau” to represent it in the region.
Bachri admitted that Indonesia has struggled to attract large numbers of visitors from the Middle East. “We need to promote more the features that would attract Muslim travellers,” he added.
