TravelWeekly rewards excellence in Asia’s travel and tourism trade

01 May 2007
By Natalie Chen

TRAVELWEEKLY (Asia) Industry Awards aims to recognise the best in the travel and tourism industry. It is only natural to seek excellence in an industry that focuses on delivery and performance.

With so many companies that put up sterling service and products, the nomination process was no easy task. This is a growing industry, according to World Tourism Organization the number of international tourist arrivals recorded worldwide grew by 5.5 percent and exceeded 800 million for the first time ever, with Asia-Pacific recording growth rates of 7 percent.

Nomination of the finalists took almost a month to complete as we wanted to be thorough, thus quite a few judges were involved in the exercise. Our 15 judges are well-recognised and leaders in the industry who have proven expertise in their respective fields. They have been very gracious and generous in spending their time to help TravelWeekly recognise the industry’s star performers.

It is our wish that dedicated travel professionals and their clients will come to regard the TravelWeekly (Asia) Industry Awards as the best endorsement that any innovative travel organisation/ personality could ever receive.

“It is a natural response to industry opinion and direction. I totally agree with some of our judges’ comments that recognition and awards are an important part of the growth of our industry, identifying those offering exemplary service or work well done. By recognising success we promote a higher level of industry standards, as we acknowledge and honour those who are in the forefront of setting the benchmarks,” said Iris Kwan, Publisher, TravelWeekly, Travel & Meetings Group.
