Vision in tourism

01 May 2007

THE remarkable increase in tourism growth is impressive, revealing the industry’s potential. So statistics for the industry reveal how buoyant the trade is.

Most times travel and tourism organisations are churning out figures to indicate the robustness of the market. Compared to other industries travel and tourism can hold its own.

According to WTTC, the World Travel and Tourism Council, the demand encompassing all components of travel and tourism consumption, investment, government spending, and exports is expected to grow by 4.6% and total US$ 6.5 trillion in 2006.

The ten year annualised growth (2007-2016) forecast is 4.2% per annum illustrating the outlook for strong long-term growth. TravelWeekly recognises what these figures pose and the implications of this.

The highlight of TravelWeekly (Asia) Industry Awards is the Visionary Award honoring an excellent individual or organization who pushes the frontiers of innovation in the field.

The figures reflect that tourism and travel is as dynamic an industry as any other and also sheds light on the level of quality and professionalism in the field. Thus, in light of a profitable international tourism market, and the exponential developments within the industry, TravelWeekly (Asia) Industry Awards aims to recognise the efforts of travel and tourism companies.

Companies surveyed have run from hotels to airlines to cruises, all witnessing a rise in their business over the years. Asia’s prowess as a destination is unrivalled and yields many promising results, lording over other regions like a hidden dragon stalking its prey.

China continues to dominate the scene whether inbound or outbound, many organisations are keen to tap on the lucrative possibilities here. The TravelWeekly (Asia) Industry Awards celebrates innovation and excellence that must accompany a thriving industry and rewards the leaders.
