Brand new terminals have been opened in Palembang, Pekanbaru and Surabaya with more to come in the next two years in Makassar, Bandah Aceh, Banjarmassin, Jambi and Bangka Belitung. AIRPORTS in Indonesia welcomed in 2006 over 82 million passengers, prompting Indonesian authorities to speed up the construction of new facilities. Padang got a new airport in 2005 and brand new terminals have been opened in Palembang, Pekanbaru and Surabaya with more to come in the next two years in Makassar, Bandah Aceh, Banjarmassin, Jambi and Bangka Belitung.Large projects are currently taking place in Jakarta with the construction of the Terminal 3 (due to open next year), in Medan with a brand new airport in Kuala Namu, 40 km away from Northern Sumatra capital and in Lombok, where a new intercontinental airport is due for opening in 2010. |
