180 countries confirmed to attend World Expo 2010

SHANGHAI – One hundred eighty countries and international organizations have so far confirmed to attend the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. The number has reached ninety percent of the 200 target number that Chinese government has committed itself to the international community, a report on the CNTA website said.

Of them, there are 158 countries and 22 international organizations. From a geographical point of view, 48 countries are located in African continent, 20 in American continent, 42 in Asia, 38 in Europe and 10 in Oceania.



Shanghai Expo will be unveiled on 1 May 2010. It is the first time for a comprehensive world exposition to be held in a developing country. A senior forum will be held during the exposition where participants will discuss how to face the challenges brought by globalization. Before conclusion of the event, participants will sign a Shanghai Declaration.
