MELBOURNE – Tourism Australia has thrown its weight behind Asia Pacific’s leading event for the business events industry, Asia-Pacific Incentives & Meetings Expo (AIME), with a larger presence planned for the 2008 event.
AIME attracts more than 850 exhibitors from 50 countries; and 2,600 visitors and hosted buyers from the meeting and incentive industry. Established in 1993, it showcases the best Australian, Asia Pacific and international destinations, products and services.
AIME’s event director Rosemarie Sama says she’s thrilled the country’s tourism marketing body has recognised the significant contribution the business events industry makes.
Recent statistics show international convention delegates can spend almost six times more than tourists.
Tourism Australia’s head of tourism events, Joyce DiMascio, says over the past year, Tourism Australia has renewed its focus on business events with a range of exciting new trade marketing initiatives including a greater presence at AIME 2008.
AIME 2008 will be held from February 19-20 in Melbourne.
