Abu Dhabi puts up its hand for meetings business (SPECIAL REPORT: AIME 2008)

Breaking news, 19 Feb 2008
by Ian Jarret

MELBOURNE – Growing air connectivity between Australia and the Middle East is encouraging new opportunities for meetings and events in the Arabian Gulf region.

Abu Dhabi and Qatar are both showing off their new infrastructure and facilities at AIME 2008, and Dubai has come to Melbourne in force to promote its vast MICE product and services.

Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company CEO, Simon Horgan, said, "Our projects have significantly contributed to Abu Dhabi's rising popularity as a global event destination. We are very focused on promoting the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre (ADNEC) and Capital Centre, as we believe they will serve as the cornerstones on which major new investments, industrial growth and business tourism will be built.”

Upon completion of Phase 2, Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre (ADNEC) will become the largest exhibition centre in the Middle East. It will consist of 55,000sqm of fully-interconnected exhibition floor space spread over 12 halls, an 18,000sqm visitor concourse and a multi-purpose hall.
