Rotana to participate at GIBTM 2008

Daily news, 02 Apr 2008

ABU DHABI – Leading Middle East hotel chain, Rotana, will be participating at GIBTM 2008 here. Rotana will be one of over 190 international exhibitors representing the Gulf/Middle East region and key Asian, Mediterranean and European markets at the premier incentive, business travel and meetings show.

“The Abu Dhabi government has made it clear that it is keen to see economic diversification for the future prosperity of the emirate and Tourism represents a significant opportunity to meet these goals. We are very encouraged by the recent increase in tourism that we have witnessed here in Abu Dhabi and, together with the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, hope to play a major role in nurturing further growth in this sector,” Rotana chairman, Nasser Al Nowais, said.

Rotana aims to have a property located in every key city in the Middle East. The hotel chain currently has a portfolio of 61 properties out of which 24 are already in operation.

Rotana’s hotel room inventory will increase to 1,000 within the coming year with the opening of Khalidiya Rotana and Park Rotana. This is in addition to the properties under development in Saadiyat Island and Capital Center.

Rotana has also recently signed a management agreement with ALDAR Properties, Abu Dhabi’s largest integrated real estate company, to develop four hotels – the 300-room Rotana Hotel on Yas Island (2009); 250-room Centro by Rotana (2009); 250-room, five-star Rotana Hotel in Al Seef precinct of the Al Raha Beach development (2012); and a 165-unit serviced apartment property in Abu Dhabi.
