CAIRO – The Conrad Cairo has been awarded the prestigious Green Globe Certified Gold status under the globally-recognised program which recognises the hotel's commitment to operating at the world's highest environmental standards.
Conrad Cairo was successfully certified for over seven continuous years which has resulted in their achieving the highest honour the Green Globe programme offers.
The certification process involves an onsite audit by an independent third party Green Globe Accredited Auditor. The hotel successfully benchmarked against key environmental indicators including energy and water consumption, waste production and community commitment.
Conrad Cairo undertook several actions in order to achieve the award. These included appointing members of staff to monitor waste, energy and water consumption; training staff in environmental awareness; switching paper memos for electronic communication; installing dimmer switches and power-saving lights; replacing the electric swimming pool heating system with a steam system; painting the facades of neighbouring buildings; and introducing recycling measures for everything from cardboard to cooking oil.
Green Globe is the worldwide Benchmarking Certification and improvement system assisting the international travel and tourism industry to attain sustainability.
In addition to the Conrad Cairo, the Conrad Bali was the latest Conrad resort to achieve Green Globe Certification in recognition of its dedication to environmental procedures.
