BWI opens area development office in RP

Daily news, 03 Apr 2008

BANGKOK – The Bangkok-based Best Western International (BWI) Asia head office has appointed Tajara Leisure and Hospitality Group as the Best Western Area Developer for the Philippines.

“The Philippines has a lot of travel and tourism potential. Its colorful festivals, reputation for hospitality, infrastructure development, and richness of its culture boosts the increased arrivals yearly. An aggressive promotional campaign and shift to focused destinations has helped boost the Philippine tourism sector,” said Glenn de Souza, Best Western VP—International Operations Asia.

“In Asia, which is the fastest growing region for Best Westerrn Hotels, we have 123 properties which are in various stages of rebranding, refurbishment and construction. The brand has positioned itself in Asia as the upscale hotels and resorts to suit the hospitality and tourism culture of the region. Currently operating 2 hotels in Manila, with the partnership with Tajara Leisure, we expect to add another 10 hotels in key locations in the Philippines to achieve our goal to have 200 hotels within 2010”, stated de Souza.

Cyndy Tan Jarabata, President of Tajara Leisure and Hospitality Group added, “Tajara Leisure’s partnership with Best Western International will help address the country's need for mid-range hotels in key areas in Metro Manila and Metro Cebu, including key destinations such as Palawan, Boracay and Bohol.”
