The St. Regis Singapore officially opens this month

Daily news, 16 Apr 2008

SINGAPORE – The new luxury hotel, St Regis Singapore, will officially open this Sunday, April 20.

“After months of preparation and a successful soft opening period, it is a great feeling that the hotel is now officially opening,” said general manager, Yngvar Stray.

“It’s also an honor for us to be the first St. Regis in South East Asia and exciting to be the first new internationally branded luxury hotel to open in Singapore in 11 years.”

Located in the Lion City’s exclusive Orchard area, the 299-room new hotel is the thirteenth St. Regis hotel in the world and the third in Asia.

The hotel features many firsts for Singapore and the region, including the country’s first ballroom that features two large skylights, the first premium Remède Spa outside of the United States, and a fleet of customised Bentleys for transportation.

The St. Regis Singapore also houses one of the largest and finest private art collections in Asia. Over 90 original paintings and sculptures by world famous artists such as Columbian artist Fernando Botero, French artist Marc Chagall, American architect Frank Gehry, Chinese Modernist pioneer Gu Gan, and a group of Singaporean pioneer artists such as Chen Wen Hsi and Georgette Chen have been painstakingly selected to complement the elegance of the hotel’s graceful interiors.
