ITE MICE leverages on synergy

01 Apr 2008

ITE and ITE MICE, the only one of their kind inHong Kong, Macau and Guangdong, offer an effective platform to those keen to tap these source markets, which have a combined population of nearly 100 million.

The region is an economic powerhouse with Hong Kong and Macau having very impressive GDP per capita, and Guangdong being the province with the highest GDP in China. The construction boom in the region of various business events facilities, including resorts, convention centres and hotels, reflects the strong local demand and great outbound potential.

The long established ITE is well-attended by travel trade from the region while ITE MICE brings in more corporate visitors, thus generating synergy. But although various onsite logistics are synchronised and visitor scan visit both ITE MICE and ITE, each of the two exhibitions will have its own promotion programme.

Owner and organiser, TKS Exhibitions Services, talked about the strength of the show. “ITE MICE is being organised differently. Firstly, it is being held concurrently with the long established ITE which has been well attended by travel trade from Hong Kong, mainland China particularly southern China and Asia. A significant portion of MICE business from the region is still being handled by travel agents. Secondly,it is being supported by the Hong Kong Exhibition & Convention Industry Association(HKECIA) and other international chambers of commerce from neighboring cities of Shenzhen and Dongguan,” it was cited.

ITE MICE 2008 will be held from June 12 to 14 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. ITE, meanwhile, will be held from June 12 to 15, and is supported by China National Tourism Administration, Hong Kong Tourism Board, Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong and Macau Government Tourist Office.

The last edition of ITE and ITE MICE had 650 exhibitors from over 50 countries and regions, and over 40 official pavilions /participations by tourism authorities from the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia. Half of these are from outside of Asia.
