Breaking news, 17 Apr 2008

AMSTERDAM – The International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA) has published its top 20 country and city rankings for 2007, covering meetings organised regularly by international associations and which rotate between a minimum of three countries.

Over 6,500 such events took place in 2007, about 800 more than 2006.

The U.S. and Germany are the top two countries for the third year in a row. Spain is third while the UK and France are fourth and fifth. Italy remains sixth and Japan, twelfth in 2006, is seventh. Brazil, Canada and Australia complete the top 10.

Rounding off the top 20 countries are the Netherlands, China, Australia, Switzerland, Portugal, Sweden, Belgium, Finland, Singapore and Korea.

Vienna tops the city rankings for the third straight year. Berlin, Singapore, Paris and Barcelona complete the top 5, while Budapest, Lisbon, Beijing, Amsterdam and Madrid occupy the sixth to tenth spots.

Copenhagen, Prague, Hong Kong, Seoul, Stockholm, Bangkok, London, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, Istanbul and Brussels make up the rest of the top 20.
