MANILA - The Philippine Department of Tourism (DoT) will start working on improving arrivals from South-east Asia by participating in travel shows in selected countries.
The Philippines will be participating for the first time at the International Travel Expo, Ho Chi Minh City (ITE HCMC) in September.
Tourism Secretary, Ace Durano, initiated the move after learning that Vietnamese tourists go for shopping and lifestyle products, which are strengths of the Philippines.
DoT team head for Asia-Pacific market, Rica Bueno, said that they will also participate for the first time in major travel shows in Thailand and Indonesia this year.
Among South-east Asian source markets, only Singapore and Malaysia are included in the Philippines' top ten list.
