BCCK appoints chief executive

Daily news, 25 Apr 2008

KUCHING – Trevor McCartney has been appointed chief executive of the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) and has already taken up his new post this month. He was formerly director of international sales and operations at Pattaya Exhibition and Convention Hall Thailand. McCartney has broad international convention centre experience having also held posts at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, the International Convention Centre, Birmingham and The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre London.

Trevor’s first task is to establish the corporate branding, booking policies and pricing structure for the new Centre which is being built by the State Government of Sarawak on a site at the Kuching Isthmus. He will also begin to recruit his pre-opening management team.

Construction work on the RM200 million-centre (about US$63.8 million) is proceeding on schedule with its opening date set for June 2009.
