Brunei confident despite cuts in flights

Breaking news, 07 May 2008
Natalie Chen

SINGAPORE – The travel trade contingent from Brunei was in Singapore to promote the destination.

There still are a lot of misconceptions about Brunei, said Mohd Jeffrey Hj Mohd Sunny Lai. And the cut in the number of destinations served by Royal Brunei Airlines will impact arrivals, he added. Sydney, Shanghai and Bali are the destinations being cut.

But said Lai, “ Brunei Tourism does not only depend on Royal Brunei Airlines to bring people in, there are other airlines. There are also other points of entry, people can come through Kota Kinabalu. Tiger Airways will also be flying to Brunei.”

The NTO is also trying to get more shuttle flights to come in mainly form China and Korea.
