Q&A: David Tseo, director of Conventions and Events, Grand Hyatt Shanghai

What do you like most about spring?

Getting over the cold weather!! Spring activates a new liveliness in the season with beautiful array of flowers, trees blossoming and children playing in the park.

If you weren’t at work today, where would you have been?

I would be in Tuscany - planting vines, understanding different grape varetials and learning more about wine-making.

Who is the one person in the world that you admire most?

Steve Jobs. He was able to conquer adversity by pulling Apple out of obscurity and into one of the most mainstream companies in the world. He revolutionised the way that we live in the world today with IPODs, IPhones, PIXAR and MACs.

What has been your most memorable experience in all your years in the industry?

I was able to see Shanghai transform into a truly International city while working at Grand Hyatt Shanghai over the past nine years.

Name three things you cannot live without.

My wife, family and running shoes

When was the last time you went to a movie house? What did you see?

Last month, I watched the movie 10,000 BC

What is your word of advice to those who want to carve a career in the hotel industry?

Love your job. Continue to exert passion and you will build a life-long career.
