HK to stage Olympic Piazza

Daily news, 18 Jul 2008

HONG KONG – The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) yesterday said it will join hands with the Tourism Commission to stage the Hong Kong Olympic Piazza at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza from July 25 to August 24. The Piazza will tie in with the Olympic rings structure on the facade of Hong Kong Museum of Art to create a strong Olympic atmosphere in Tsim Sha Tsui – the popular tourist district with a cluster of landmark attractions.

The Piazza is designed to provide dynamic entertainment and information. The visual treat will include broadcast of the Olympic competitions on the world’s largest plasma TV and big TV screens, as well as on the facade of Hong Kong Cultural Centre, which will be turned into a 22-metre projection screen.

The Piazza will be equipped with Olympic information kiosks, exhibition and e-books about the Olympic Equestrian Events. It will also have the latest updates on the games.

The HKTB will set up a dedicated area in the Piazza to highlight Hong Kong’s diverse tourist attractions, and arrange staff to assist in visitors’ itinerary-planning and enquiries on-site.
