M’sia’s tourism arrivals increase in June

KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 1,961,355 tourists visited Malaysia in June, representing an increase of 8.7 percent, year-on-year. Cumulatively, tourist arrivals recorded from January to June 2008 were 10,963,120 representing an increase of 2.6 percent compared to 10,690,426 for the same period in 2007.

Singapore maintained its position as Malaysia’s biggest tourist-generating market with 976,873 Singaporeans visiting the country in June. Others in the top ten list are Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei, China (including Hong Kong & Macau), India, Japan, the Philippines, Australia and the United Kingdom.
