Question: What is your favourite holiday destination? Venue: Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore

Takashi Kono, director of sales :

There is no better holiday destination than Penang, Malaysia. The cost of living in Penang is one-quarter of Singapore’s. One can find plenty of yummy local delights from RM2 (US$ 0.60) to RM3 with ease. Although there are no major brand names for the avid shopper, a visitor can do a lot of other activities like nature trails, sightseeing, enjoying the sea and even hills and jungles!

Jolene Koh, senior sales manager - MICE :

Manly in Sydney, Australia, is a great holiday getaway for anyone who enjoys outdoor activities and family vacations. The selection of food in Manly is awesome! At the Corso, one can find interesting arts and crafts, shopping, lots of dining options as well as the opportunity to discover Manly’s rich culture and heritage.

Long Lee Wah, senior sales manager - Travel :

My favourite destination closest to home is Bali, Indonesia. It is only two hours away by flight and easily accessible whenever I am in need of a quick rejuvenation. There are many reasons why I like Bali: the friendly Balinese people, great massages in truly natural surroundings, beautiful scenic spots and its rich culture.

Swee Su Fen, director of business development - MICE

It has to be Florence, Italy! This is the destination for retail therapy at its best – it is home to the Ferragamo Museum while lace and silver merchandise on the charming Ponte Vecchio are lovely. In between shopping expeditions, there are lots of famous museums, beautiful cathedrals and amazing architecture.
