DANANG - More international flights into Danang have seen a corresponding spike in tourists according to the Danang Culture-Sports-Tourism Department.
Figures show that two international airlines that are conducting direct flights to Danang such as Silk Air and PB Air have brought in 14,395 tourists increasing 12 per cent in comparison with the year 2007.
While for the year 2008, two airlines from South Korea such as Asiana and Korean Air operated its first charter flights for the route from Seoul to Danang which brought 2,898 South Korean tourists to Danang. It is expected that chartered flights flying the Seoul-Danang route will operate in December 2008.
The international direct flights have helped boost the occupancies in Danang’s resorts and hotels which have occupancy rates of 60-65 per cent. In particularly, some MICE groups have come to Danaang on these airlines to attend international meetings and conferences in Danang, said Nguyen Duc Quynh, executive assistant manager of the five-star Furama Resort Danang.
Danang’s authorities are also cooperating with other relevant offices to open direct flights to Hong Kong and Japan. |
