Being rational on a Friday the 13th
Tuesday, June 17, 2008
After quite a kinetic feel and look the other day at the exhibition floor, the following late morning was suddenly flat. And, of course, when there is nothing much to do, exhibitors are inclined to talk to each other. And, of course, it would only be a matter of time when the discussion touches the current state of the floor.
So where were all the people? Somebody suggested that it might have been the rain. It wasn’t exactly raining cats and dogs but still the streets were wet enough.
But then again, business is business. If buyers had to meet sellers, then, surely, rains should just be treated as the smallest of inconvenience.
Could it be then, that there were really that few a number of buyers? But the organisers gave a respectable figure. So where were they? Out shopping?
There were a few more hypotheses that ensued but none of which convincingly held water. The discussion went on and, along the way, someone asked what day it was. Friday. The 13th! So there you have it.
Two exhibitors then went out to lunch and when they came back, the floors were busy again. Of course, this time, the topic turned to why the deluge of the crowds only then.
Perhaps, they slept in and decided to have lunch first.
