Tiger Airways Australia to refund passengers
SYDNEY - Tiger Airways Australia has said that it will refund fares to those passengers holding reservations between now and 31 July 2011. The moves comes as it is believed that CASA intends to file an application in the Federal Court on 7 July seeking an extension to the suspension period until 31 July 2011.

Europe now leading Global Tourism Growth
LONDON - International tourist arrivals grew by 4.5% in the first four months of 2011, despite new challenges emerging since the beginning of the year. According to the latest issue of the UNWTO World Tourism Barometer, growth was positive in all regions with the exception of the Middle East. Some subregions achieved double-digit growth: South America (+17%), South Asia (+14%) and South-East Asia (+10%).
IATA reports May 2011 global airline traffic
GENEVA - IATA’s traffic results for May 2011 show a 6.8% increase in passenger traffic over May 2010. This is 4% higher than the beginning of the year. Freight traffic showed a drop of 4% against the post-recession peak of the re-stocking cycle in May 2010. However, recent months show a renewed upward trend with freight volumes 2% higher than the start of the year.
