TravelWeekly China Honours the Winners of 2006 Travel Industry Awards

Singapore, 4 December 2006 – TravelWeekly China announced the recipients of its 2006 Travel Industry Awards held at The Kerry Centre Hotel in Beijing on November 27, 2006. Held biennially, the TravelWeekly China Travel Industry Awards recognise the best in the industry and acknowledge their contributions to China tourism, both inbound and outbound.

The awards ceremony was attended by over 200 distinguished guests from various sectors including hotels, airlines, travel agencies and tourism boards. TravelWeekly China honoured 34 winners from seven main categories including hotels, airlines, business events, tourism-related entities, personality, online, recognition and others. The highlight of this year’s award is the Personality Awards, a new award category, to acknowledge outstanding personalities and their contributions, including Agency Personality of the Year, Hotel/Airline Chief of the Year and Destination Marketer of the Year. Also new to the Awards are the Recognition Awards for Best Emerging Airline, Best Tourism Branding, The Visionary and Responsible Tourism Award. Carefully selected and recognised by TravelWeeklyChina, these awards went to outstanding corporations that have demonstrated significant achievement in the respective areas.

Inaugurated in 2002, The TravelWeekly China Travel Awards selection process starts with nominations by TravelWeeklyChina readers and industry peers based on a pre-set nomination criteria. The top three finalists from each category are selected based on the total number of votes garnered. A distinguished panel of judges is assembled to determine the final winners.
