Spanair ceases operations

Madrid : Spanair has ceased operations abruptly, its last flight landing at 2200 hrs on Friday (Jan 27) - affecting more than 23,000 passengers with the cancellation of  220 flights.

In a statement issued,the airline said" it had no option but to cease flying out of duty of care for the safety of its operations" due to "lack of financial  visibility for the coming months".

Customers who are scheduled to fly with Spanair or who have purchased tickets for travel  should refer  to  www.spanair.com for further information.  The company has set up a contact centre to deal with all passenger queries. The telephone number is +34 971 91 60 47.
