Singapore: Tiger Airways, Singapore’s leading low-cost carrier, today announced the introduction of services between Singapore and Kochi. This service will see Tiger Airways paving the way as the first regional low-cost carrier to fly from Singapore to the city heralded as the “Queen of the Arabian Sea” and the gateway to Kerala’s scenic backwaters.
Kochi, the bustling financial capital of Kerala in southwest India, is a city rich in culture and history. Once a world famous trading port, Kochi preserves its rustic charm as a seaside city, retaining its historic buildings and key festivals dating back to the 16th century.
“With the addition of Kochi to our portfolio of destinations, Tiger Airways will now serve five destinations in India, providing travellers from Singapore and the region with even more great value travel options,” said Stewart Adams, Managing Director of Tiger Airways Singapore.
Adams added, “India is an important market for Tiger Airways, and this further increase to the number of routes flown to this region demonstrates Tiger’s commitment to extending its paw print and growing its presence. Singapore is India’s largest trade and investment partner in ASEAN, and the launch of our Kochi route will further increase accessibility for leisure and business travellers whilst encouraging bilateral connectivity within ASEAN.”
Tickets to Kochi are now available at a special promotional fare from S$110 one-way (Singapore to Kochi), all-inclusive, for travel from 27 April 2012 to 29 October 2012. Tiger Airways will fly four times a week to Kochi when the service launches – on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
To celebrate this milestone, Tiger Airways is also offering promotional fares to its other destinations in India. This promotion includes flights to Thiruvananthapuram (from S$115 one-way), Chennai (from S$130 one-way), Tiruchirappalli (from S$140 one-way) and Bangalore (from S$140 one-way) – all inclusive of taxes and charges. The travel period for this promotion is between 1 March and 31 March 2012.
